„Eine seidene Steppdecke“ – Interview mit der ehemaligen Aufseherin Frau T. (2004)

Margarete T. visited the Ravensbrück Memorial Site for the first time in 1995 – five years after the reunification – and revealed herself as a former guard. She agreed to talk about her work as a female guard and has been interviewed several times since then. Her recollections are – not untypical for concentration camp perpetrators and confidants – highly ambivalent, as the following interview excerpt from 2004 shows: On the one hand, she enthuses about the well-equipped apartments of the guards, and on the other hand, she tells the story of a “silk quilt” on her bed that had been looted from deported French Jews upon their arrival in Ravensbrück.
