Events

We cordially invite you to the screening of the documentary film "Liebe Angst" (directed by Sandra Prechtel, 2022) on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Fürstenberg Station. Following the film presentation, there will be a discussion with protagonist Kim Seligsohn and Dr. Andrea Genest, the director of the Ravensbrück Memorial Museum. The film discussion will be moderated by Kirsten Poggendorff of Brückenschlag e. V.

The event is in cooperation with the Fürstenberg Verstehbahnhof and Brückenschlag Fürstenberg e. V. The film is in German with English subtitles. The  film discussion will be simultaneously translated into English. Admission is free.

About the film:

Lore was six years old when her mother Marianne Seligsohn was deported to Auschwitz. Lore Kübler is a "DP" – a Displaced Person, to this very day. From morning until evening, she writes articles from the Weser-Kurier on index cards, archives them in boxes, baskets, and cartons. Kim is Lore's daughter. Kim has her music, her dogs, her faith. Kim Seligsohn fights against fear, for a piece of normalcy, for solid ground beneath her feet.

For a lifetime, her mother did not speak: not about Marianne, Kim's grandmother; not about the hiding place where Lore survived as a child; not about Tom, Kim's brother, who took his own life. But Kim wants to talk: about her childhood with Lore, about Tom, about the damaged lives of both. LIEBE ANGST closely follows the process of reconciliation between mother and daughter, their anger, their strength, and a love that was always there but could not be lived.

Important Information: The RE5 trains (Rostock Hbf/Neustrelitz Hbf - Berlin Südkreuz) are cancelled between Oranienburg and Berlin Südkreuz in both directions. A replacement bus service has been organised between Oranienburg and Berlin Gesundbrunnen.

For the route Berlin --> Oranienburg we recommend the connection with the S1 to Frohnau. From there, a bus from the rail replacement service will run. From Oranienburg, the RE5 to Fürstenberg runs again.
