In summer 2017, a new collection was handed over to the Ravensbrück Memorial: Documents and objects from the estate of Hélène Freud, née Weissensteiner (1901-1972).

She was deported from the Auschwitz concentration camp to the Ravensbrück concentration camp in autumn 1943 with a so-called Mischling transport. In April 1945, she was one of the prisoners liberated by the Swedish Red Cross. She remained in Sweden and later worked there as consular chancellor for Austria. As a member of the Auschwitz Committee, she reported on her prison experiences in many countries. From her estate, which her nephew donated to the memorial, some objects are currently on display in a showcase in the visitor centre: Among them is a pair of shoes made of the fabric intended for prisoners' clothing.
