Campaign for the Aid Network for Survivors of Nazi Persecution in Ukraine launched

18. June 2022

Focus on support for survivors of Nazi persecution in Ukraine. This is what the aid network of the same name wants to do with a week of action. The events begin around 19 June and end on 29 June. The "Aid Network for Survivors of Nazi Persecution in Ukraine", which was founded as a reaction to Russia's war of aggression on 9 March 2022, wants to continue its previous work with the action week and prevent the willingness to donate from decreasing too much. The aim is to support survivors of Nazi persecution in Ukraine, their families and colleagues from Ukraine affected by the war in an unbureaucratic and effective way with the help of donations. About 42,000 survivors of Nazi camps and persecution still live in Ukraine.

The action week will also focus on the dimensions of the Second World War and the Russian war of aggression as well as on continuities. All events can be found in the calendar on the website of the relief network.

Keeping donations high!

At a central online event at the beginning of the action week on 20 June, the network, which was founded on the initiative of the Berlin association KONTAKTE-KOHTAKTbI, wants to look at humanitarian support in Ukraine from an international perspective: What does the work on the ground look like in concrete terms? How do organisations in other countries, such as Poland, help? Dr. Anatoly Podolsky from the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, Ljubov Danylenko, an expert on Nazi forced labour and partner of the aid network, and Eliza Gaust, Centrum Dialogu in Łódź, will speak on the panel. The event will be moderated by Dr Christine Glauning, director of the Documentation Centre Nazi Forced Labour.

During the action week, you will find a designated donation box in front of the Visitor Information Centre of the Ravensbrück Memorial. Thank you very much for your support!

The coordination of the network is supported by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ).
