In 2015, Zofia Pociłowska described this work as follows: ‘For me, it is a beautiful symbol of love. But it is also marked by suffering. And I want to add that all my works are guided by my own experiences. The female figure does not resemble me, but the male one is very reminiscent of my friend, whom I loved for a period of time.’
