Ravensbrück Memorial Museum
The first of three international "work camps" has begun at the Ravensbrück memorial site
21. June 2022
The first of three international work camps began at the Ravensbrück memorial last weekend. Until 5 August, 35 young people from all over the world will spend a week at the historical site and in online formats dealing with the history of the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp and remembrance after 1945. They are also committed to the preservation and maintenance of the memorial site. In a workshop with the artist Sophia Hirsch, the young people will deal with artistic testimonies of prisoners and create their own collages. Two of the work camps will take place in cooperation with the Vereinigung Junger Freiwilliger e.V., one in cooperation with Service Civil International.
In four other regional work camps in August and September, around 60 participants from an anti-fascist-feminist construction and encounter camp on the "Uckermark Youth Protection Camp", the Kolping Youth, the association "Mittendrin" from Neuruppin as well as alumni from the Protestant School in Leipzig will be guests at the Ravensbrück Memorial.
