Programme for the 78th Anniversairy of the Liberation now online

Programme to mark the 78th anniversary of liberation 

20 April – 30 April 2023  

(Preparations as at 13 March 2023; subject to modifications) 

This year's commemoration on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the liberation of the prisoners of Ravensbrück concentration camp will take place on Sunday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at the Ravensbrück Memorial.

The commemoration ceremony will be surrounded by a diverse program that runs from April 20 to April 30, the historic date of the liberation of the women's concentration camp. Survivors of the Ravensbrück concentration camp are expected to attend. Among them is the Danish survivor Ib Katznelson, who will speak at the commemoration ceremony on April 23, along with Minister President Dietmar Woidke. Ib Katznelson was born on October 30, 1941 in Copenhagen. At the age of two
he and his mother Karen Katznelson were deported to Ravensbrück. For his decades of tireless work as a witness, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in January 2023.

Students of the Ernst Litfass School in Berlin renew the waymarks on the Road of Remembrance leading from Fürstenberg train station to Ravensbrück memorial.  They are supported by Ingo Grollmus.
