Coproduction, Sweden / Belgium / Norway 2022, Panorama, of the BERLINALE 2022
Nelly and Nadine meet in 1944 as prisoners in Ravensbrück concentration camp. After the liberation they find each other again and start a relationship that will last a lifetime. Nelly's granddaughter goes in search of traces of a lesbian love that was never named as such by the family. "This film illustrates the need for a queer history and a queer collective memory on World War II, while giving the forgotten victims and survivors of the Holocaust a long-needed tribute. Covering all these important areas would prove difficult for most films, but with, Nelly & Nadine' and their extraordinary love that survived against all odds, we get this story of courage and resilience told with grace that leaves a lasting impression on every viewer."
