Alina Dąbrowska, born in 1923 near Łódź, was arrested by the Gestapo in 1942 for "betraying secrets". In 1943 she was deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, where she became a victim of the pseudo-medical experiments of the camp doctor Josef Mengele. With the evacuation of the Auschwitz camp, she was sent to the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp in January 1945. This was followed by imprisonment in Malchow and Leipzig. Alina Dąbrowska was able to escape from a death march in the last weeks of the war and hide until the end of the war.
Alina Dąbrowska was involved as a witness for many years. In 2019 her biography was published: "Wiem, jak wygląda piekło. Alina Dąbrowska w rozmowie z Wiktorem Krajewskim." (I know what hell looks like. Alina Dąbrowska in conversation with Wiktor Krajewski).
