Ravensbrück Memorial Museum
European Day of Remembrance for Sinti and Roma
02. August 2026 – 13:00 - 16:00 Uhr
2 August marks the 82nd anniversary of the liquidation of a section of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp where Sinti and Roma were imprisoned. On the night of 2 August 1944, the approximately 4,300 people who remained, including many women, children and elderly people, were murdered by the SS.
Since 2015, 2 August has been a central day of remembrance for the victims of the Porajmos, the organised murder of Sinti and Roma by the Nazis.
On this year's Holocaust Remembrance Day for Sinti and Roma, the Ravensbrück Memorial Site will host a themed tour on Sinti and Roma in the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp. Afterwards, the memorial site invites visitors to a silent commemoration at the Schwedtsee.
